
Today, in Podgorica, the leadership of the UFTUM Women’s Section was elected: the coordinator and the six-member Coordination Committee. Ana Miljanić on behalf of the Trade Union of Banks of Montenegro was unanimously elected as the coordinator of the Section, while the following members of the Coordination Committee were elected: Slavka Lakčević (Trade Union of Education of Montenegro), Sandra Obradović (Trade Union of Metal and Mining Workers of Montenegro), Magdalena Kasalica (Independent Trade Union of Students and student dormitories of Montenegro), Novka Janković (Trade Union of Commerce Workers of Montenegro), Jadranka Drobnjak (Trade Union of Media of Montenegro) and Marta Lekić (Trade Union of Civil Servants and State Employees of Montenegro).
The leadership of the Women’s Section was elected for a term of 10 months, during which time they are obliged to unify the Section and organize a new Assembly at which a new leadership with a full mandate will be elected.
The Women’s Section of the UFTUM is, in accordance with the Statute of the UFTUM, an interest organization that is formed for the purpose of promoting trade union activities of the UFTUM. As part of its activities, the USSCG Women’s Section monitors and analyzes the position of women on the labor market, fights for better working conditions and health protection of employed women, fights for greater participation of women in management and decision-making bodies, publishes informative and educational programs, organizes cultural, sports and humanitarian manifestations of a trade union-promotional nature and works on the organization and expansion of the Section.
According to the Statute, the coordinator of the UFTUM Women’s Section is automatically a member of the Main Committee of the UFTUM with the right to vote.
