Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro held its III regular Congress

On November 1, 2017, the Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro held the III regular Congress, under the slogan: Together! Courageously! In solidarity!

The Congress was attended by 295 delegates from 10 branch unions, 3 craft trade unions and about 20 trade union organizations.

Congress delegates adopted the new UFTUM Statute, the Work Program for the next mandate period, the revised resolution on the necessity of amending the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, as well as the revised resolution on respecting the rights of employees to a 40-hour week and the right to day off on Sundays and holidays. Reports on the work of the Main, Statutory and Steering Committees for the previous mandate period were adopted unanimously. The Congress also elected the members of the UFTUM Statutory and Steering Committees.

In the process of candidacy for Secretary General of the Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro, which preceded the Third Congress, two candidates were proposed, namely: Nenad Čobeljić and Srđa Keković. Out of the 270 delegates who voted in the secret ballot for Secretary General, 229 delegates voted for Srđa Keković, while 41 delegates voted for Nenad Čobeljić. Therefore, Srdja Kekovic was elected as Secretary General of the UFTUM for the term from 2017 to 2022.

The Congress was attended by the Deputy Secretary General of the European Confederation of Trade Unions, Peter Scherrer, representative of the International Trade Union Confederation, Enisa Salimović, as well as guests from the Regional Trade Union Council “Solidarity” – presidents and representatives of national trade unions from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Serbia, Macedonia, guests from France, Albania, Turkey, Kosovo, representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, social partners, representatives of political parties, NGOs, etc.
