Proposal on Amendments to the Labor Law Adopted at Yesterday’s Parliament Session

At yesterday’s Fourth Session of the Second Regular (Autumn) Session in 2020 of the Parliament of Montenegro, members of parliament adopted the Proposal on Amendments to the Labor Law.

Namely, due to the impossibility of the members of the Working Group, which worked on drafting the new General Collective Agreement, to complete the work due to the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus, the Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro together with the Confederation of Trade Unions of Montenegro sent the initiative to the President of Parliament of Montenegro, as well as parliamentary groups, requesting an amendment to Article 216 para. 1 and 3 of the Labor Law, in order to extend the deadline for concluding a new General Collective Agreement until 31 December 2021, which would at the same time extend the validity of the General Collective Agreement currently in force.

Based on the initiative of the UFTUM and CTUM, the parliamentary groups submitted to the President of the Parliament of Montenegro a Proposal to amend the Labor Law, which resulted in the inclusion of this point in the Agenda and its adoption at the above-mentioned session.
